Community Restorative Justice (CRJ)

Restorative Justice is a framework that applies values and principles to our responses to offensive behavior, violations, conflict and crime.

Restorative Justice is concerned about the needs and roles of victims, communities and offenders in search of healing, accountability, responsibility, safety and community wellbeing.

RESTORING LIVES AFFECTED BY JUVENILE CRIME

Community Restorative Justice is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization located in Missoula Montana since February 2003. For years we have worked to develop balanced and restorative justice programs for juvenile offenders, their victims, their communities, and their families. In May 2004, we formed a partnership with Missoula Youth Court and began implementation of our Victim Offender Dialog (VOD) Program. In February 2008, we began implementation of our Shoplifting Prevention Program.

Our programs are run by our program director and lead facilitator, but it is our many volunteers that we consider the backbone of our programs and organization. Volunteers include trained victim offender dialog facilitators, loss prevention and merchant guest speakers, guest juvenile justice official speakers, volunteer service providers, and our board members. These volunteer community members have provided the community support that so many victims need in order to begin a healing process, and the support that youthful offenders need to become responsible members of their community.

Our programs are funded through a contract with Missoula Youth Court, grants, board and individual contributions, fund-raising events, volunteer time, and in-kind contributions.

Please contact us with any questions, volunteer inquires, referrals, or how you would like to be a part of our organization and programs.
